Australia will always be my home. I am very proud to be Aussie, and hold it close to my heart wherever I go. It’s never lost on me just how much of a privilege it is to be able to travel, move freely and see the world. Whilst travelling from Australia can be both expensive and logistically difficult, we’re lucky to have stunning regions such as South East Asia and the Pacific Islands at our doorstep.
I left Australia upon the completion of my university studies, and headed to Mexico with a one way ticket. It was always just a temporary plan; to explore the Latin America region until I sorted my life out and gained some mental clarity. Whilst I had no idea what the future held for me at that point in time, I was only feeling pure excitement and enthusiasm.
I didn’t leave home because I was unhappy. I left home because I wanted to experience the world and challenge myself. Melbourne will always be there, but opportunities are fleeting and precious.
Mexico remains one of my favourite countries in the entire world- it really is such a special place. It was always going to be a formative experience for me, and lead me towards my next step in life. In the end, my Mexico experience taught me to trust myself, trust the process, and trust that everything will always work out the way it’s meant to.

After working as an English teacher in Mexico for some time, I soon realised that it wasn’t the right fit for me. At that time, I received a job offer to come and work as an osteopath at a clinic in Singapore. After devoting 7 years of my life to completing my studies in osteopathy, I instinctively knew that it was the perfect time and opportunity to begin my professional career and start working towards my future.
I’m very much an “all or nothing” kind of person. When I commit to something, I give it my best. When I moved to Singapore, that meant making a real effort to meet new people, form friendships, immerse myself in the local culture, build something meaningful, and become the best version of myself.
Life becomes much easier when you realise that either way, everything will always work out. Life is also short, and nothing is guaranteed. Having regrets is far worse than having tried and failed- so take the risk. And if it all goes pear-shaped? Learn from it, have a laugh, perhaps have a shot of tequila, and do better next time. Nothing is ever that serious, so just enjoy the ride!
